This is Athens. This is Athens. It is Athens calling.
You will hear again the free voice of Greece.
After three and a half years of dark slavery under the blood and iron yoke of the cowardly
fascists, the relentlessly cruel Nazis, and the treacherous blood-stained Bulgarian jackals, this is
our first transmission in English coming to you from Athens.
While the joy bells are announcing that the horrid shape of the enemy which ……. over our
country is vanishing from Athens, we extend a heartfelt welcome to the British Army of
Liberation.
We do not forget all those great Britishers, the English, the Australians, the Canadians, and the
New Zealanders who enthusiastically ……….. with us during the three and a half years of our
ordeal, fighting on our mountains or sharing our hardships in the towns.
And we turn our minds back with gratitude and reverence to the heroic British youth who
together with our dead lie beneath Greek soil.
