Our movie nights  at the revived AB cinema carry on in September with 11 marvelous movies!

SEPTEMBER 2022 – AB SUMMER CINEMA 

Following an unexpectedly warm welcome by the Athenians, AB Summer Cinema, which operated as an open-air cinema this summer, will continue its screenings during the first weeks of autumn. From September 3 to 17, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy films equally attractive to those of July, specially chosen to meet the tastes of all cinema lovers of all ages! The Municipality of Athens will reopen one of the most historic cinemas of the city and, in the framework of Culture is Athens, will make the evenings in the neighbourhood of Ano Patissia more joyful and exciting.

The Technopolis City of Athens, in collaboration with the Athens International Children’s Film Festival, the Industrial Gas Museum, the Trianon Cinema, CinoboandIn-edit Greece, will present11 memorable filmsin12 nights, with unique tributes and re-releases of favourite movies and an outdoor visual arts workshop for children. The autumn program will start with a two-day screening of  Daisy Quokka: World’s Scariest Animal, from the Athens International Children’s Film Festival, a film about the animal that has been declared the happiest in the world and its struggles! The third screening of the autumn program, also dedicated to children, is Luca,the first feature film of Enrico Casarossa (Oscar and BAFTA nominee for Best Animated Feature Film) and Pixar production. The screening will be preceded by a children’s workshop, Our Cinema,by the Industrial Gas Museum.

Following that, the baton is passed to the Trianon Cinema with the films Eiffel, a 2021 production, already loved by the audience, One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, an unsurpassed movie and performance by the one and only Jack Nicholson, and Little Nicholas’ Treasure, everybody’s favourite character! Finally, Cinobo will remind us of the particularly fascinating world of Jim Jarmusch and, under the umbrella of COFFEE & CIGARETTES – A Tribute to the Cinema of Jim Jarmusch, will present three of the director’s most beloved films: Down by Law, Dead man and Coffee and Cigarettes.

The last curtain for this Autumn will fall with In-Edit Greece and three documentaries that will take us on a musical journey, bidding farewell to summer in the best possible way: Summer of Soul (…or, when the revolution could not be televised), Moby Doc and Max Richter.

AB Summer Cinema returned to its roots this year, giving us a taste of what will come in the years to follow. Culture and its people will always find a way, and we can always return to AB Summer Cinema, just like the good old days!

*AB Summer Cinema has reopened in the Culture is Athens frameworkthe three-year project announced by the Municipality and its institutions, which aims at upgrading, promoting and integrating Athens’s cultural fabric and supporting practically artists and workers in the cultural sector.
