Get ready to immerse yourself in the mesmerizing melodies of jazz music! The Athens Jazz, now in its 23rd year, is returning to the City of Athens from May 27 to June 2, 2024. The Technopolis City of Athens is all set to organize the biggest celebration of jazz music in Greece, offering a week-long extravaganza of live music, rhythm, and unique side events – all with free admission.
The upcoming 23rd Athens Jazz Festival hosts the best of global jazz music on the most beautiful open-air stage at the heart of Athens. In addition to the international lineup, the festival gives a platform to talented domestic jazz musicians, helping to strengthen the presence of Greek jazz on the world stage.
Every year, the Athens Jazz Festival reserves the first day for Greek jazz and showcases the country’s most creative musicians, chosen by the festival’s artistic committee. So, if you wish to perform on the opening day of the top music event in the city, submit your candidacy for the open competition of Athens Jazz by February 14. Don’t miss this chance to perform on the most iconic Jazz stage in Greece on May 27!
The open call aims to showcase three music groups in total:
– The official Greek participation that will represent our country in the international program of the festival,
– The jazz+ proposal, an artist or musical ensemble combining jazz elements with one or more music genres, regardless of their jazz background.
– The new music proposal of Athens Jazz featuring young and emerging artists
The three-member artistic committee of Athens Jazz, which will analyze the proposals to be submitted and select the representatives of the three categories, consists of Giorgos Haronitis (journalist, music editor), Giorgos Mouchtaridis (radio producer, director of Athens Voice Radio 102.5) and Leonidas Antonopoulos (music producer, head of Kosmos 93.6).
