The City of Athens presents: Music at Technopolis 2022, May – September, Technopolis City of Athens
Part A’
From May to September, 50 nights full of music of different genres will be hosted at the most iconic stage in the city!
Shortly after the impressive opening of the 21st Athens Jazz with the “Women in Jazz” at the Technopolis City of Athens and selected venues around the city, Music at Technopolis, the most beloved music event of the summer in the heart of Athens, presents a rich and diverse concert program that will last until the end of September inviting Athenians and visitors to enjoy and have fun. In total, 50 magical evenings full of music of different genres are organized, with the city’s most iconic chimneys as their backdrop.
For the first concert summer, after two years of pandemic restrictions, the Technopolis, taking all sanitary measures into account, has planned a music program to satisfy all music fans: from art, folk and pop to rock, hip-hop and electro. Its main stage will host legendary foreign artists, visiting our country after a long time, ready to mesmerize us all, favourite singers, famous bands and emerging musicians from Greece, while, as every year, Music at Technopolis will host some of the most important music festivals presenting the latest trends in the local and international scene.
Right after the end of Athens Jazz, Music at Technopolis hosts the «master of words», Vevilos, on Thursday, June 2, to present the “Night of Shadows”, three-dimensional work and books that emerged after 25 years of active musical activity. On Friday
On June 3, the timeless Dionysis Schinas and the talented Demy will take the audience on a unique musical journey with their personal hits as part of the 3rd SGS Family and Pet Festival, which aims to raise awareness about animal rights.
On Saturday, June 4, the legendary Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason and his band will remind us all what Rock Music is through a musical retrospective of his 55-year career and a spectacular audiovisual show that has received rave reviews abroad. On the following day, Sunday, June 5, two of the most influential representatives of the Greek independent music scene, known for their extraordinary live performances, Planet of Zeus and Stikhima, join forces on stage. Then, on Monday 6 and Tuesday, June 7, the erotic Americans Cigarettes After Sex, one of the most unique and talked about bands of the last years, promise to take us on a journey to a musical universe full of emotions, romance and atmospheric melodies.
Next, on Friday, June 10, the explosive Social Waste bring their bagpipes, lutes, baglamas, ancient and Pontian Lyres and start their summer tour from the Technopolis stage with a concert to be remembered for a long time. The next day, Saturday, June 11, Pyx Lax, the most favourite band in Greece, will remind us of our carefree moments, timeless values, the importance of music, and the most social artistic expression.
On Sunday 12 and Monday, June 13, the Plisskën Festival of contemporary electronic -and not only- sound returns to Technopolis with four stages and more than 40 artists, with headliners the “soul” of downtempo, Bonobo, and the multi-talented Caribou, who will present an audiovisual show that will highlight his greatness. Then, on Thursday, June 16, Chatzifrageta and Eisvoleas meet on stage for an unforgettable live show, while two days later, on Saturday, June 18, Logos Timis, one of the most beloved rap bands of the Greek audience, returns to the Technopolis stage after three years of silence for a unique summer concert.
On Friday, June 24, Athens Music Week returns with a glimpse into the future and a surprise closing live event to be announced soon. The following day, Saturday, June 25, Bloody Hawk and Dani Gambino join forces for the top rap double bill of the summer. Prepare for battle! June ends with rapper Anser coming to Technopolis for the first time on Thursday, June 30, for an earth-shaking performance. Then, on Tuesday, July 5, gipsy punk rockers Gogol Bordelo take the baton, returning to Greece after eight years of absence to turn the night into an endless party!
On Wednesday, July 6, KALEO from Iceland will follow with an electrifying rock concert, presenting their latest album and songs that made the Greek audience love them.
On Wednesday, July 13, one of the most historic and timeless bands of the local punk rock scene, Panx Romana, invite us to celebrate their 40th anniversary in a sweeping sound show, together with beloved friends and musicians of the local hip-hop and rock scene.
On Monday, July 18, the award-winning virtuoso Fantastic Negrito will perform for the first time in Athens, offering an unforgettable electric blues experience.
On Tuesday, July 19, as part of the Urban Athens Festival, the Greek audience’s favourite low-bap band Active Member will celebrate their 30th anniversary, their 22 albums and dozens of others as solo artists, setting up a feast where generations meet, communicate through a shared code and find a passage to the future through the group’s music and lyrics.
On Thursday, July 21, the iconic Rockwave Festival arrives in the city and sets up a wild party at the Technopolis through the Rockwave Nights, bringing one of the most beloved alternative rock bands in Greece, Placebo, who have been rocking the boat worldwide since 1994! Then, on Friday, July 22, they are followed by the rock legends Within Temptation, who will be with us for a unique performance in Greece to present well-known and beloved songs from their 20-year career, besides their new album Resist.
The curtain of the first part of Music at Technopolis will fall on Thursday, July 28, with the unique Calexico. They return to Technopolis 22 years after their first, unforgettable appearance in September 2000. The beloved Indie Folk Americans are more mature than ever and, with a new album to present, promise to offer the Greek audience a night of absolute musical ecstasy.
