On Saturday, December 3, the City of Athens Museum of Folk Art and Tradition “Aggeliki Chatzimichali” hosted in a particularly warm atmosphere, the three qualifying performances in the central hall of the museum, in the framework of the Theatre at the Museum \u2013 Displacement Stories competition organised by the Culture is Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The audience attending the three performances was transferred to three different inspiring sets by the three directors and screenwriters. The first performance, by Vassilis Tryfoultsanis, titled “Angel’s Work”, introduced the audience, using a simple set combined with speech and <\/a>dance moves, to Aggeliki Chatzimichali. The second performance, by Giorgos Sioulas, entitled “Under the canopy of the Ionian sky”, shared the thoughts of the Greek folklorist about her life through a moving and particularly vivid narrative. Finally, the third work, by Marianna Tzani, entitled “HERE. A stage trick on displacement”, was judged as the best performance, both by the jury and the public. The play gave a completely different twist to the space, as its original, inspired gaze combined unique speech, music and the viewers’ participation in interpreting the concept of displacement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All three performances were inspired by the museum, the life, work and travels of Aggeliki Chatzimichali in Greece in the context of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe.
