In August 1944, in retaliation for the death of a German soldier during a clash with partisans, the Germans executed 11 Romani Greeks on Hamosternas Street in Kato Petralona. They were buried in the Third Cemetery. The victims included:<\/p>\n
Iordanis Vasileiou, Vangelis Georgiou, Vasilis Georgiou, Apostolos Evangelidis, Ioannis Pasaloukos, Georgios Sarafoglou, Aristeidis Sarris, Nikolaos Siakouris, Lazaros Tsatsanis, Georgios Gerontakis, and Pantelis Christou.<\/p>\n
In 1951, following a request from Eleni Christou, the leader of the Romani Association, the Athens Municipal Council approved a space for the reinterment of their remains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
