Written at the end of the first and most prolific period of the Corfiot composer Spyros Samaras, “Lionella” was presented in the spring of 1891 at the Teatro allaScala in Milan. Until the beginning of the 21st century, there was no access to this work, except for the “Hungarian Rhapsody”. The new orchestration was created by Byron Fidetzis in 2021, based on the spartito of “Lionella”, which seems to be the only one saved over the years. The opera refers to Ador’s passion for gambling, a Hungarian nobleman and army officer. This passion is even stronger than his love for Lionella, a young, beautiful gipsy girl who renounced her family and people because of her love for Andor.

www.oly.gr

Written at the end of the first and most prolific period of the Corfiot composer Spyros Samaras, “Lionella” was presented in the spring of 1891 at the Teatro allaScala in Milan.

[643
