Would you like to touch a planet or create your own colourful stars and volcanos?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The&nbsp;<strong>Athens Science Festival<\/strong>, the grand celebration of science, is back from<strong>October 21 to 23<\/strong>at the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.athens-technopolis.gr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technopolis City of Athens<\/a>, inviting children and grownups alike to discover science through art, interaction and play in an exciting three-day festival in the heart of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The festival, inspired by&nbsp;<strong>Foresight<\/strong>, the strategic exploration of different possible futures, takes us to the&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Worlds of Tomorrow&#8221;,<\/strong>&nbsp;which might be closer than we think, bringing along concepts such as climate change, artificial intelligence, robotics and sustainable development. Through hands-on workshops and interactive exhibits, participants will learn about&nbsp;<strong>computer vision<\/strong>, program and drive their own&nbsp;<strong>Minibot<\/strong>, mentally travel to&nbsp;<strong>our solar system&nbsp;<\/strong>and discover the role of&nbsp;<strong>satellite technology&nbsp;<\/strong>in combating the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The Athens Science Festival&#8217;s diversified program includes activities for all:&nbsp;<strong>70 interactive events, 25 kids labs, 15 workshops for grownups<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>20 speeches\/presentations, art and science exhibitions<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>contests&nbsp;<\/strong>and <strong>stand-up science<\/strong>, among others. Moreover, this year, leading scientists, academics and professionals from all over the world will be at the festival, attempting to provide,through their presentations,answers to several contemporary issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Some of the Athens Science Festival 2022 highlights:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Minoa Robot sports Competition&nbsp;<\/strong>(M.R.C.) invites participants to an exciting sports robotics football and sumo wrestling contest organized by the Hellenic Educational Robotics Organization, H.E.R.O.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The award-winning interactive exhibition&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;Planets in your Hand<\/strong>&#8220;, organized by the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, is also here. Participants will feel and perceive through the senses of touch and sight the peculiarities of each planet, such as the atmospheric and geological conditions prevailing on them, their temperature and winds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>MrChem&nbsp;<\/strong>takes us to his laboratory and, with children, runs the most&nbsp;<strong>impressive experiments&nbsp;<\/strong>with everyday materials found in a kitchen. He creates&nbsp;<strong>colourful stars<\/strong>, makes his own&nbsp;<strong>volcanoes&nbsp;<\/strong>and reads&nbsp;<strong>hidden messages<\/strong>.&nbsp;<em>Organized by KLEIDARITHMOS Printing &amp; Publishing Company.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">In addition, for yet another year, leading academics will meet at Technopolis to help us discover what the future holds for us. Among this year&#8217;s guests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Dr Sanjay Sharma<\/strong>, Associate Professor at the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics (SECAM) at the University of Plymouth, will be at the opening ceremony on&nbsp;Friday, October 21,&nbsp;to present the applications of AI in shipping and the significant steps towards achieving maritime autonomy.&nbsp;<em>His speech entitled &#8220;<\/em>Using AI to navigate<em>&#8221; will take place on the main stage with the support of the British Council.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\"><strong>Dr Matthew Gardiner<\/strong>, artist and key researcher at&nbsp;<strong>Ars Electronica Future lab,&nbsp;<\/strong>will introduce us to&nbsp;<strong>oribotics&nbsp;<\/strong>(origami + robotics.) In his exciting presentation&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;The Art &amp; Science of Origami &amp; Robotics<\/strong>&#8220;, which will take place on&nbsp;<strong>Sunday, October 23,&nbsp;<\/strong>we will learn how his research relates to the study of folding in nature and about Oribotics, Origami Robotic methods and their various applications<em>.&nbsp;<\/em>The presentation will be held with the support of the Embassy of Austria in Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:16px\">The grand celebration of science is finally here!
