The Melina Cultural Centre is housed in the old hat factory
of Ilias Poulopoulos, which was founded in 1886. The original hat factory was nicknamed Pil-Poul: Pil from “pilos”, meaning hat, and Poul from the owner’s last name, Poulopoulos. It hosts visual and artistic events that promote cultural activities and amateur creations. OPANDA aims to emphasize the work of creative groups through collaborations with cultural institutions.
The venue hosts two permanent exhibitions: A Journey through old Athens and the Collection of Shadow Theatre Figures of the Haridimos Family.
