«Eleftherios Venizelos»

μουσείο ελευθέριος βενιζέλος

The Eleftherios Venizelos Museum was founded in 1984 and opened its doors to the public on March 30, 1986. It is housed in an autonomous building next to the Athens Municipality Arts Center at Parko Eleftherias. The central core of its collections comes from items collected by Zacharias Makatounis, a Cretan, and his son Antonios, who donated everything to the Municipality of Athens to create a museum. The museum’s collections include personal items of the politician, documents related to historical events, archives of documents and photographs. The museum is currently in the process of re-exhibiting its collections according to modern museological approaches, and for this reason, its operation has been temporarily suspended.
