Theatre at the Museum. Displacement Stories

The first part of the competition for writing and staging a play in the frame of the “Theatre at the Museum” project under the title Displacement Stories was completed. The plays were to be inspired by the collections and history of three cultural venues of the Municipality of Athens: the Industrial Gas Museum at Technopolis, the Aggeliki Hadzimichali Museum of Folk Art and Tradition, and the Athens Municipal Gallery of OPANDA.

The open call addressed by the Municipality of Athens to adult artists and art groups on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Asia Minor Catastrophe resulted in a total of 25 plays being submitted within the deadline, from May 20 to June 15, when the open call was completed, after an extension. From the total number of plays presented, the separate Jury appointed for each venue selected the following three plays by respective authors:

The shortlisted plays will be staged between October and December 2022 at the three selected venues. The winners, who will receive a cash prize, will be determined following a vote by the audience and the jury.
