Technopolis City of Athens-INNOVATHENS
On Tuesday, September 27, at 19.30, Epikentro Publishers presents, at the Technopolis City of Athens (INNOVATHENS building), the book of Michalis G. Triandafyllidis “The City we loved. Fragments of memory and wonder about Thessaloniki “.
From the refugee resettlement neighbourhoods of the City to the province of Bithynia, from the halls of European institutions and the peace marches in Brussels to the pilgrimage of Hiroshima survivors to the spot where Grigoris Lambrakis was murdered in Thessaloniki, and from the memory of taste to the constant questioning of political consciousness, Michalis Triantafyllidis’ narration traces the lines of a collective journey to the City’s palimpsest identity, in a personal manner.
As Panos Theodorides notes in the preface of the book,
“this totally explosive giant, with his peculiar temperament, is, in fact, a stream of ideas, action, strategic melancholy, and a highly social being with an inner kindness from another era”.
The book will be presented and commented on by:
Vassilis Kalfas, Professor Emeritus of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
Christina Poulidou, Journalist – writer
Angela Kastrinaki, Professor of Modern Greek Literature in the Department of Philology of the University of Crete.[online intervention]
