Athens City Festival: Chórεs Live at the Byzantine Museum

The female vocal ensemble Chórεs under the artistic direction of Marina Satti presents a dynamic polyphonic show where famous choral arrangements of traditional melodies from all corners of Greece are intertwined with new takes on folk songs, written especially for the ensemble by distinguished contemporary composers.

Chórεs approach this eclectic repertoire with the fresh and unconventional eye that characterizes this unique ensemble’s steadily rising career, illuminating traditional musical material in contemporary, unexpected ways and highlighting the distinct vocal and kinaesthetic abilities of its members.

The show includes works by Mihalis Adamis, Giannis Giannakou, Eleonora Zacharia, Gianni Ioannidis, Alexandros Kapsokavathis, Alex Ktistakis, Martha Mavroidi, Alkis Baltas, Lagios Barntos, Christos Samaras, Nikos Skalkotas, Aggelos Triantafillou and Filippos Tsalachouris.

The ensemble is directed by head musician Irini Patseas and the kinaesthetic by the choreographer Stavros Ikbal.
